I think it’s safe to say that self-isolation is going on a bit longer than any of us expected. Some of you may be going stir crazy and running out of ideas for killing time at home, so I’ve compiled a well-rounded list of top 10 things to do while in self-quarantine that are entertaining, enriching, and relaxing.
1. Do a free at-home workout.
Even if you don’t have any workout equipment, there are a number of fitness companies offering free online classes. Never underestimate the power of an at-home workout, it can be a major mood booster. Here are a few great options:
- Peloton (Free 90 day trial and no equipment is necessary)
- Corepower Yoga (Streaming Live classes on YouTube)
- Obe Fitness (7 day free trial)
2. Read a book.
Now is the time to catch up on those books you’ve always wanted to read. It’s one of my favorite things to do before bed instead of staring at my phone screen. Here are a few of my favorite books:
3. Listen to a podcast & go on a walk.
Podcasts are an excellent form of entertainment. My trick is to go on a walk while I listen to them so I remove all other potential distractions. Here are my favorites:
- How I Built This
- The Morning Toast
- Goal Digger
4. Do a virtual or blind wine tasting.
So you might not be able to go to your favorite wine bar, but how about doing a tasting right at home? Its a great way to have some fun while unwinding with a drink or two. Here are some great virtual and blind wine tasting options:
- Wine.com Virtual Tastings
- Argaux Quarantine Edition Blind Tasting Kits
- Love That Red Winery – Blind Tasting Kit
5. Spa day at home.
6. Plan a virtual game night with friends.
Zoom happy hours are a great way to catch up with friends. We recently discovered an 3-8 person online game called Quiplash and we had a blast playing it with a few friends. This is the type of game that is fast to learn and will make you laugh out loud. It’s probably the most fun I’ve had in quarantine.
7. Make over your space.
Have you been thinking about making updates to your current living space? Sometimes even the smallest tweaks can really brighten your mood. It can be as simple as moving furniture, buying a plant, or styling your bar cart.
8. Create your own art.
Feeling creative? Follow the #DaretoDIY hashtag on Instagram for some inspiring art projects to do at home. Here’s a fun example my sister (@halfway.to.perfect) did on a canvas to hang in her home. All she needed was a canvas, stucco repair, spray paint, and dirt (yes, dirt).
Even if you’re not the “journaling type”, there are a lot of journals out there with great prompts to help you think and reflect. One of my favorites is Becoming: A Guided Journal For Discovering Your Voice.
